The Inn

Alaska's Capital Inn Bed and Breakfast welcomes you to Juneau, Alaska, the Capital!

Our restored gold rush era home offers the finest in overnight accommodations and a real be & breakfast experience during your stay.  Rooms are tastefully decorated with fine linens on king size beds, walls adorned with period wallpapers, collectible Alaskan art, and period furniture throughout.  Our breakfasts are raved about by the guests, and covered by all the guide books, as a true dining experience.  You can enjoy refreshments before dinner, or our bottomless cookie jar with a cup of tea in the afternoon, when guests often share the day's events or photos.

The Inn is conveniently located in a historic residential neighborhood overlooking the downtown area.  It is a short walk to all of  Juneau's specialty shops, casual and fine dining, area attractions, and local hiking trails.  Business travelers have easy access to all government office buildings, courthouse, and convention hall.  Because we are so close to everything downtown, there is no need to rent a car.

We are a stones throw from the State Capitol Building and as such have been proud to host several Governors and members of our Alaska Congressional delegation here at the Inn.

We look forward to having you stay with us for your Alaskan adventure.  Come and enjoy the Inns ambiance, our great breakfasts, and casual conversations over a glass of wine, but best of all, make friends.  As several guests have commented, it is better than being at home!

In 1906, gold rush pioneer John Olds built one of the grandest homes in all of Juneau, high on the hillside, overlooking the town and its bustling waterfront.  Painstakingly restored over a four year period to its original grandeur, the Inn now blends turn of the century elegance with all the contemporary comforts of home.  Furnished in period antiques and fine reproductions, your senses are reminded of an earlier time and the Inn's place in history and the town's rush for gold.

The Inn is our home too, and one of the fun things in life is to share it with our guests.  Guests repeatedly confide in us how much more their stay was enhanced because we lived in the house.  Whether preparing breakfast, or scheduling tours, fixing wedding dresses, or repairing eye glasses, we are always around to offer conversation, help and recommendations.  On those hot and sunny afternoons, we often congregate on one of the decks, sharing local refreshments, playing dominos, eating snacks and telling old fish stories.  In season, we might ask guests to help shell crabs for the next day's breakfast, so you could be put to work!

The outside garden is the perfect place to read a book in the sun or catch a nap in a hammock.  Our landscaping contains some of the original Olds family plantings that we have preserved along with the Inn.  There is also a large covered outdoor hot tub for guests use after a long day of adventures or hiking through the rain forest.

The Inn has wireless internet capability and there is a computer in the parlor for guests to use.

"This restored home still has that “grand” look as it did in 1906."
"Breakfast is practically a gift from the heavens!"
