Harry's Room

A beautiful queen-sized fumed oak Stickley queen spindle bed with support corbels dominates this beautiful second-floor room. Original maple floors are protected by a wool Karastan rug with a deep blue early William Morris design.

The wallpapers are also of the Morris Company, in the Acorn pattern first printed and designed by J.H. Dearle in 1879. The reddish hue of the paper is almost identical to the imported French glass shades on the room’s period light fixtures. A bedside antique slag glass lamp rests upon a mission lamp table, while an antique armchair provides ample comfort for viewing morning sunrises over Mt. Roberts and the downtown area.

Several Alaskan artists are represented in the framed art. A blue streaked shale patterned bathroom floor compliments the wainscoting surrounding the pedestal sink and claw foot tub, the china antique wall hung commode is the original to the house.
